In the spirit of Thanksgiving, there's much to be grateful for in the world of NGS – especially the strides towards better reimbursement!
Our latest analysis (i.e., Rishikesh's latest analysis) from the NGS DxBook uncovers how supportive Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs) policies, like those from MolDx, are shaping the landscape:
1) Institutions under MolDx-linked MACs showcase higher volumes, a testament to the power of enabling policies.
2) Despite the overall trend towards larger panels, smaller panels clearly still drive higher reimbursement rates
3) Supportive MAC environments and robust patient populations are key to comprehensive NGS panel adoption, shining a light on the path forward for decentralized labs
Our findings highlight a crucial Thanksgiving message: We are thankful for the regions leading the charge in NGS volumes, attracting centralized labs and setting a benchmark for others.
However, we also recognize the need for improvement. The disparities in reimbursement across MACs call for a unified approach to support all labs, ensuring the promise of NGS can be fully realized, because #NGSisUnstoppable!
