Legacy DxBooks

The following DxBook databases contain historical data and are still available for purchase, but are no longer updated each year. As with all DxBooks, these datasets offer primary data collected directly from clinical testing labs across the U.S., providing unparalleled on-the-ground insight into historical testing behaviors.

Single-Biomarker Oncology DxBook

The Oncology DxBook captures biomarker test adoption, volumes, technologies, and trends for >25 key targets across 300 U.S. labs. Annual data are available from 2017 through 2023.

Testing information is collected at the level of individual biomarkers, capturing the most common actionable mutations across cancer types. Biomarkers in the database include ALK, BCR/ABL, BRAF, BRCA, HER2, ER, Ki67, KRAS, NRAS, PD-L1, TP53, and more.

SARS-CoV-2 Testing DxBook

The DeciBio SARS-CoV-2 Testing Database was one of the first to compile high-quality, detailed information on coronavirus testing practices in labs throughout the U.S. Beginning in April 2020, our team regularly surveyed approximately 400 sampled molecular labs around the country. This standalone SARS-CoV-2 DxBook contains data from the beginning of the pandemic, from 2020-2022. COVID testing data from 2023 onwards is still being collected, but is now integrated into our Infectious Disease DxBook.

Data collected in the SARS-CoV-2 DxBook includes:
  • Diagnostic and antibody testing volumes, in-house and send-out
  • Names and manufacturers of platforms and kits used for in-house testing
  • Approval status for kits  used
  • Percentage of positive results for diagnostic and antibody tests
  • Sample collection type
  • Additional respiratory virus tests run in conjunction with SARS-CoV-2 tests, if applicable
  • Reasons for not offering SARS-CoV-2 testing in-house or via send-out service, if applicable
  • Impact of COVID-19 pandemic on molecular testing volumes for other analytes

In order to assess the rapidly developing SARS-CoV-2 testing landscape, we conducted follow-up interviews with each lab approximately every 3 months. This high-quality, granular data was collected over the phone in the same rigorous manner as is performed for the DeciBio Infectious Disease DxBook database, respected by clients for over 10 years.
